Belgian school Expressionist/abstract landscape painting by Belgian painter Gustave Van Steenwegen (1905-1986), entitled "In this landscape we see a red house hidden in a colorful forest with clean lines under a sky that is orange and dark at the same time. Signed by the master lower right and framed. Gust Van Steenwegen (Antwerp, February 11, 1905 - Antwerp, April 16, 1986) was a Flemish Expressionist painter and draughtsman. During the First World War, he received private drawing lessons from Gerard van der Heyden in Breda, and in 1923 took drawing lessons from Albert Geudens in Brussels. He was self-taught in painting. He was a member of the Antwerp art circles Moderne Kunst and Kunst van Heden and took part in exhibitions organized by the Cercle Artistique d'Anvers. Together with Jan De Schutter and Jack Godderis, he founded and taught at Het Vrije Atelier in Antwerp. Gust Van Steenwegen painted landscapes, seascapes, flowers and still lifes.
