Product description
Object by Giuseppe Lamers 'The Creeper' Material: Ceramic (hardy) Size: 40 cm As a base, Giuseppe Lamers forms his sculptures in clay. All sculptures are handmade by the artist and due to the production process each sculpture is unique. When the sculpture is ready then follows a drying process of over 3 weeks after which the sculptures are treated with a glaze and then fired at over 1000 degrees. The hot firing process makes the sculptures weather resistant allowing them to be both indoors and outdoors. About the artist: Giuseppe Lamers was born on August 13, 1966 in Roermond. Inspired by stories from his parents about a trip to Zimbabwe, he began producing ceramic sculptures in 1993. Initially, Guiseppe's work was strongly influenced by the African image but gradually more abstract contours emerged. As a reason, the artist argues that he can express more fantasy in the abstract. This may seem contradictory to the human tendency to fantasize more realistically but it is precisely in the abstract that Guiseppe challenges the viewer to form their own emotion or image of what they see. "The challenge lies in creating an emotion in an image that makes someone who is touched by it become forever inseparable from it. An image that evokes certain feelings like security, falling in love, sadness or letting go of material earthly existence." As a basis, Giuseppe Lamers forms his sculptures in clay. All sculptures are handcrafted by the artist and due to the production process each sculpture is unique. When the sculpture is finished then follows a drying process of over 3 weeks after which the sculptures are treated with a glaze and then fired at over 1000 degrees. The hot firing process makes the sculptures weather resistant so they can be placed both indoors and outdoors. In addition to the ceramic sculptures, the oeuvre of Guiseppe Lamers also includes bronze sculptures and handcrafted Cortes steel pedestals that sometimes form a whole with the sculpture. The rusting effect on the steel creates a special interaction between sculpture and pedestal, adding to the field of tension. The sculptures of Guiseppe Lamers are shown in leading galleries and sculpture gardens in the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany. -
