lovingly restored set of four Gispen 302 chairs, also known as the Gispen/Kembo. These iconic chairs, designed by Willem Hendrik Gispen in the 1950s, are not only pleasing to the eye but also offer excellent seating comfort.I have re-foamed these chairs, upholstered them with a green/black semi-synthetic fabric and blind-finished them all around as per original.
Salient detail: despite their age of more than 70 years, these chairs remain unparalleled modern!
Historical background:After a disagreement with the shareholders of his own furniture factory, Willem Hendrik Gispen decided to go his own way and founded Kembo in 1953, which stands for "Kom Eerst Maar Bij Ons." His goal was to design even better chairs than those from Gispen's stable, and he certainly succeeded. The 302, W.H. Gispen's first design for Kembo, immediately won prizes at the Italian Triennial in 1954, which is why it is also called the Gispen/Kembo Triennial.  This set is a unique opportunity for lovers of vintage design and Dutch furniture history.
