Product description
Tube frame office chair from the 1940s. The style is hugely reminiscent of Gispen, Paul Schuitema or Fana. Producer of this specimen is unknown and I suspect that it is a composition of two parts where the bottom part could be from Fana (the almost priceless series 132) or Paul Schuitema, and the top part either from Gispen (354?) or from Ahrend-De Cirkel. The screw threads of both elements are not the same and therefore the chair cannot turn (properly) either. It can turn a few turns but is not fully height adjustable. Still an otherwise sexy specimen. The chair is otherwise clean, no (fly)rust, the upholstery is in one piece, the bakelite armrests are in perfect condition. The wooden blocks were once fitted to match it with the desk pictured, those are off and by now there are felt glide pads underneath again. The plan was to turn new bushings for the base and cut new ACME threads myself so that the two parts would fit and turn properly together again, but due to moving and overcompletion that won't come to pass.
The leather contains some scratches, likewise the chrome leg ends of shoes.
