Product description
Dutch design icon designed by Wim Rietveld for Gispen in 1953 (model 216). The frame is made of bar steel and the seat and back of bent beech plywood, mounted on soft-sprung rubber discs. Armrests with bakelite shelves.
This is an original, restored copy from the 1950s, previously upholstered. I have restored it to its original condition as much as possible, varnishing the back matt black. A beautiful combination with the natural wood (sanded and finished with professional PU lacquer) and the matte black bakelite armrests. Can also be painted all black if desired. The original white floor caps show some wear.
Dimensions:
Height 80 cm
Seat height 44 cm
Width 58 cm
Depth 55 cm
Fastening bolts through the backrest are not original, but added during a later upholstered life phase of this chair. Traces of this also on the underside of the seat. See photos.
