Product description
Color pattern square '65', A beautiful artwork/color study by Gijs van den Elshout (20-12-1959 ⋅ 12-04-2014).We have quite a collection by this artist in our showroom.Framed in a minimalist plastic frame. In good vintage condition.About the artistIn 1988 Gijs established himself as an independent artist in Carré (Tilburg). There he worked on his oeuvre until his death. He was a master of color theory which is especially expressed in his early abstract work. The symbiosis of colors and graphic forms set the works in motion, as it were. Later he applied himself to Pointillism combined with Naïve art, One-line drawings and Sumi-é techniques.Inspiration he found mainly in mythology and nature. His modest and idiosyncratic nature unfortunately prevented him from breaking through as an established artist. That he was talented is evidenced by his nomination as "up-and-coming talent" in 1993, when he was allowed to show his work in the Palace on Dam Square to then Queen Beatrix.
Measurements: H. 52 cm; W. 52 cm; D. 6 cm.
