Product description
Original Gispen de Wit armchair, designed by Toon de Wit in the 1950 period. This vintage armchair is completely in its original condition, covered with the black skai upholstery. A nice detail are the optically floating black bakelite armrests, which are also in very good condition.
Chair shows some corrosion on the back of the legs; no rust spots.
Chair is marked on the underside.
Faux leather upholstery is whole and in good condition, but the chair can be reupholstered if desired.
Seat height 40 cm.
Overall height 78 cm.
Seat width 50 cm.
The company Gebr. de Wit N.V. of Schiedam was founded after the war by two brothers, Toon and Martien de Wit. Toon was the designer and had worked as a designer at Gispen before the war. They supplied quality tubular furniture and made it for Gispen, among others. The company closed its doors in 1977.
Metal base has scratches on back of base. E.g. is visible in the last photos.
