Fritz Ketz (1903-1983) Ketz was born in Duisburg on the Rhine River and grew up in his father's native village in East Prussia, called Karasch near Deutsch-Eylau, now Karas near Ilawa, former Germany now in Poland. He studied at the Stuttgart Art Academy from 1929 to the early 1930s. During the Second World War he stayed in Germany, in Stuttgart, where his studio was completely destroyed during the air raid in 1943, along with hundreds of his paintings, but he himself miraculously survived.
