This coffee table is an original from the 1950s. It belongs to the first generation of the rare furniture series 602 from Deutsche Möbelwerkstätten Hellerau. Special features are the sophisticated workmanship, the use of high-quality materials in connection with a clear design language.
The surfaces are finished with oak veneer.
Little history:
This cabinet from the 602 furniture series saw the light of day in October 1959. The producer was the Deutsche Möbelwerkstätten Hellerau.
The architect and furniture designer Franz Ehrlich (Bauhaus student under Gropius) presented this type series 602 for the first time in 1957 at the Leipzig Spring Fair. The Furniture up to 1959 is characterized by a higher quality than the successors.
Condition:
The piece of furniture is basically stable, functional and has no damage. There are signs of use.
Processing:
The Furniture has been thoroughly cleaned. We clean and treat the wooden surfaces intensively with specially cleaned linseed oil in connection with an odorless and residue-free hydrocarbon solvent. This method is recommended by restorers.
