Memphis style was described as "bizarre", "misunderstood", "loathed". Active from 1980 to 1987, this style was created by a group called Memphis Milano, an Italian design and architecture group founded by Ettore Sottsass. The group designed postmodern furniture and objects. Memphis was known for their use of bright colors, geometric shapes and bold patterns.
The lamp is in very good vintage condition.
