Ferry Slebe was born on May 3, 1907 in Ambt - Almelo and died on March 15, 1994 in The Hague. He was born as Ferdinand Joseph Sleebe. Called that a mistake by his father and changed his name to Slebe. Consequently, he always signed his work with Slebe. Slebe was a student at the Academy of Fine Arts in The Hague. He was a member of Haagse Kunstkring, Pulchri Studio, Verve and the Posthoorngroep. He taught at the Free Academy in The Hague from 1953 to 1955.
In 1951 Ferry Slebe joined the painting group Verve. The establishment of Verve can be considered the Hague answer to Cobra. Ferry Slebe's canvases are colorful and the representations relaxed. He considered himself self-taught. Works by Ferry Slebe are in the Haags Gemeentemuseum, the Rijkscollectie and private collections. Is listed in the Jacobs and Scheen.
The work can be viewed/picked up in Borne, Overijssel. The Hague is also an option. This can only be done (without obligation) by appointment.
The condition is excellent. There is a handmade Gehring/Heijdenrijk frame around it.
