Discover the unique charm of this Fat Lava Purple Marei vase, numbered 300, by Marei Keramik. Manufactured by Marei (Majolikafabrik Rheinbach) in West Germany, this special piece reflects the rich history and craftsmanship of a company that flourished between 1948 and 2017.
Although Marei was initially seen as a small company that experienced its heyday in the 1950s, further research has shown that it was among the big players in the 1960s and 1970s. Marei began as part of ES Keramik but became an independent company in 1948. Founded by Jean Fuss and his sons in 1929, the company has its home base in Rheinbach.
One of the most important designers employed by Marei was Bodo Mans, who contributed to the artistic development of the company from 1956. This vase, made of red clay and finished with the signature purple glaze, is a perfect example of Marei's innovative and aesthetically pleasing designs.
