Espen Greger Hagen (1964) was born in Trondheim, Norway, and died in Amsterdam in 2008. Espen Hagen studied painting and sculpture at Emily Carr College in Vancouver and then studied painting and sculpture at the Rietveld Academy. Espen Hagen made frequent trips through North America and Mexico, where he painted portraits of American and Mexican indigenous people. Hagen worked extensively with Herman Brood, with whom he was friends and exhibited together several times.
