Dé Tijdeman is known as a painter of portraits, figures, flowers and still lifes. She received her training at the Academy in The Hague, where she also lived most of her life. Between 1918 and 1923, she was married to the painter John Ruys. During that period, she signed her work with the name Dé Ruys-Tydeman.
