Product description
Lovely duo of vintage cactus planters or pot covers from the 70s and 80s, Brutalist, Japanese style, hand-glazed wood/chip/lava style ceramics. Unknown origin, anonymous, but beautifully crafted. Large, round, wide and relatively tall, slightly flared bowls on slightly flared bases. Textured wood glaze, with motifs reminiscent of large scales, in shades of gray, white, dark and light brown for one. The other is more in shades of brown, russet, white and beige. The white glaze is frothy, "lava-like". Brown glazed interiors, hollow feet. The 1st (dark brown) is a little larger than the second, 19cm in diameter at the top and about 13cm in diameter at the bottom, 8.5cm high for the bowl. Total height 13cm. The 2nd (red) 18.5cm diameter at the top and about 12cm diameter at the bottom, 8cm height of the bowl, 13cm total height. Both in very good condition, a little used. The 1st presents a manufacturing defect at the foot, extremely discreet firing cracking, as well as a chip on the lower edge of the foot, also very discreet. The 2nd has a manufacturing defect on the inside, a firing crack, which is quite significant, but cannot be seen from the outside. Approx. 800-900gr each.
