Product description
Donkersloot painter/silkscreen combination
Peter Donkersloot was born in 1959 in Arnhem. He grew up in the woods of the Veluwe, but also spent an important part of his childhood in the Betuwe. This later turned out to have a major influence on his work and in particular on his 'Dutch Landscape Paintings', with the many water features containing the characteristic sky reflections.
After attending the art academy in Arnhem in the late 1970s, he first worked for a number of years as an advertising artist and illustrator at, among others, the renowned advertising agency FHV-BBDO. This start was in line with expectations as his father Piet Donkersloot was also a well-known illustrator.
In the mid-1980s, Peter was twenty-six at the time, something started to get in the way: he could no longer combine advertising drawing with his true great love, namely free painting. When his father passed away in 1986, he decided to take the gamble; you should try to achieve your dreams as much as possible.
Peter Donkersloot paints at a fast pace, can be found in his studio day and (especially) at night. With his extremely characteristic works, the artist now knows how to appeal to a large group of enthusiasts. Exhibitions are therefore invariably sold out and the artist increasingly exhibits abroad.
