Product description
Vintage Djokja silver bowl on base. The bowl is full of beautiful details including ornate flowers. The bowl has a hammered finish. Everything has been worked by hand. The bowl is made of 3rd grade silver 800/1000. The dish is marked (see photo) Djokja silver was made in Kota Gede (Indonesia) between the early 20th century and about 1970. The name Djokja comes from the Indonesian place Yogyakarta (formerly Djokjakarta) on Java. This is one of the places where silver used to be forged. Especially between 1930 and 1970, many jewelry and objects such as tableware were made there. Generally it has a characteristic look of flowery shapes, and between these shapes the silver is blackened. Everything is handmade, so nothing will ever be exactly the same.
