The de Wit brothers competed with Gispen. The fame is somewhat less, but that is not due to the seating comfort of the chairs. They were real functionalists and you can tell by the comfort!
The love was in designing a well-sitting chair that looks nice. "Then it sells itself," was t motto, but that turned out not to be the case.
In addition, the Gispen chairs are just a little more beautifully finished by using the gispen clamp, creating an invisible connection instead of using screws as with a "de Wit" chair
