Product description
Danish hanging lamp 'Corona' designed in the 1960s by Jo Hammerborg. This iconic lamp was manufactured by the well-known brand Fog & Mørup.
The minimalist conically shaped hanging lamp consists of a brushed aluminum tube surrounded by a steel band. The purple-colored inner paint of this tire spreads a very beautiful light. Due to the sleek Scandinavian design, this lamp fits in many interiors, both vintage and contemporary.
The lamp is in beautiful vintage condition with minor signs of wear here and there that are typical of its age (light scratches) but hardly noticeable. The manufacturer's sticker is also still present as a sign of authenticity.
Dimensions are 45 cm (height) x 24 cm (width) x 24 cm (depth). Total height is adjustable.
After serving as a saboteur with the Danish resistance during World War II, Jo Hammerborg studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Art after which he worked as a silversmith with Georg Jensen. In 1957 he was appointed chief designer at the Danish lighting manufacturer Fog & Mørup , where he worked until 1980. Under his leadership, the company experienced its most creative and commercially successful period. He has contributed to more than 180 different lamp designs, some of which have won international prizes. Hammerborg died in a parachute jump in 1982.
