Product description
Corona Hanging Lamp by Jo Hammerborg for Fog & Morup, 1963
Jo Hammerborg created the Corona pendant in 1963. It is one of his very first creations at Fog & Mørup and the first light he made with the "rim over slit" effect in the middle.
The inside of the black rim is painted light pink to give a distinguished colored sheen to the brushed aluminum and the inside of the cone is dark so as not to bring excessive light down through the opening at the bottom, eliminating the slit effect halfway up the cone strengthens.
Height 45cm
Diameter 23cm
In very good vintage condition with minimal signs of use.
Johannes (Jo) Hammerborg (1920-1982) grew up in Randers. He took part in the Danish freedom struggle in 1940-45 as a sabotage agent. He studied at the art academy and worked as a silversmith for Georg Jensen. In 1957 he became chief designer at lamp manufacturer Fog & Mørup, where he worked until 1980. With a clear design philosophy, great visual insight and a clear understanding of form, function and aesthetics, he created more than 180 lamps, many of which have received international awards.
