Product description
Lithograph signed by Corneille in 1996. Rare copy signed by hand and in pencil: artist's proof in an 11/20 edition. Juxtaposed representation of a female figure, a bird and a tree, light blue color and black lines. Yellow ground and gray background. Yellow and red sun. Cobra style, spontaneous and childlike. Wove paper. Dimensions: 38 x 28. Very good condition. E/A" or "épreuve d'artiste" prints are small quantities initially reserved by the author for personal use. They are therefore rarer, but can sometimes be found on the market. Corneille, whose real name was Guillaume Cornelis van Beverloo (1922-2010), was a Dutch artist born in Liège. He was one of the founding members of the Cobra movement. Inspired by primitive art, his style is characterized by the use of stylized forms and bright colors, and by the regular depiction of animals, female figures and exotic birds, in a simple, spontaneous childlike context. Sold unframed, sent with care.
