Product description
This painted original "design for silkscreen" from 1969 comes from the former studio of Johannes Georg Ruyter. From 1945 he worked (geometrically) abstract. The image measures 45 x 45 cm. Sits in a black wooden Barth frame, in passe-partout, behind glass. Size frame 83 x 83 cm. On the back is a second design. Amsterdam painter-graphic artist Georg Ruyter (1913-1982) trained as a drawing teacher from 1928 and as a painter at the Rijskacademie in his hometown from 1933 to 1937. After completing his training, the artist lived in Haarlem and the Frisian town of Sloten for 5 years. He then returned to Amsterdam again. He painted landscapes, still lifes and portraits. His style was initially figurative and occasionally geometric abstract, after 1958 concrete. Ruyter was a member of De Onafhankelijken and of the artists' association St.-Lucas. "Generally I work with two opposing elements, which together form a totality, which is both static and dynamic. I call it concrete design, something that is self-setting and relies on the properties of the surface and the material to be used. From this also follows the color scheme for each painting."
General signs of age. Much not visible behind the passe-partout.
