Product description
Claude ROUTIER :femme du,Sud faisant la sieste.pastel gras -55.5x35.5 cm framed67.5x52.5.....le Parcours,If you come to Sète by train, take the time to look at the painting in the station concourse, "Le génie de la gare" by Claude Routier. Claude Routier was born on March 12, 1943. "He was from Sète, as one might say from France, and was astonished to be asked where it was" (Anne Marie Routier). He didn't leave his hometown until the age of 27 to pursue a career in the French education system. He wanted to be a pediatrician, but became a physical education teacher, not because he wanted to, but because he needed to earn a living. At the age of 20, he received a box of paints as a gift: "it was the decisive, one-way entry into painting" (AMR). His first solo exhibitions took place in the 70s. At the age of 41, he gave up his teaching career to devote himself exclusively to painting... and writing, for "he wanted his paintings to read like books" (Didier Vesse). This "magician of images and poet of colors" (Marie Van Hamme) put down his brushes in November 1999 at the age of 56, as his wife says, "I suspect he took his leave in November, so as not to have had to celebrate the arrival of the year 2000 Claude ROUTIER Personal Exhibitions  Corconne Oil Mill, 1973  Galerie Mirage, Montpellier  Musée Olivier Brice-Viols le Fort  Galerie Alphonse Daudet, Montpellier  Club de la Presse, Montpellier  Musée de Bédarieux  Bois Colombes 1987,1993  Galerie Les Calades, Avignon  Minoterie de Mont de Marsan 1987, 1989, 1991  Galerie Michel Zeller, Tarbes, 1987  Espace Gambetta, Carcassonne, 1988  Galerie le Chat de Pique, Sommières  Galerie Boismain-Vesse, Montpellier  Salle Gravero, Le Pradet  Théâtre de la Mer, Sète, 1991  Galerie Marine Brasseur, Reims  Musée Fleury, Lodève, 1992  Galerie Didier Vesse, Aigues Mortes, 1998  Midi Libre, Montpellier, October 1999 Abroad  Fine Art Gallery, Brussels, 1984  Galerie Aturiale, Liège  Institut Français de Madrid, 1990  Maire d'Encamp, Andorra Collectives  Rome, 1974  Salon d'Automne, Paris, 1974  1er Salon de peinture de la ville de Montpellier  Galerie Paris-Orly Sud  Galerie La Mandragore, Paris  INTERARTE, Valencia, Spain  Heidelberg  Mairie d'Unterschleisseim-Munich  Galerie Jean Claude David, Grenoble  Galerie l'œil du Taureau, Uzès  Espace Jacques Cœur, Montpellier  Brasserie du Dôme, Montpellier  Galerie des Arènes, Nîmes Les 5 génies de la gare de SETE
