Designer: Hans J. Wegner Short description: The CH25 is one of the four chairs that Hans J. Wegner designed exclusively for Carl Hansen & Søn at the beginning of the collaboration that began in 1949. Considered revolutionary at the time, the chair went into production in 1950. I have a second one if anyone is interested. They have hardly been owned and are therefore in new condition. The offer price refers to one chair. With its unmistakable shape, the CH25 Lounge Chair is clean and simple - just like many other legendary designs by Hans J. Wegner. The introduction of the lounge chair caused a stir due to Wegner's choice of materials for the backrest and seat. The woven paper cord was a substitute for seagrass and was developed during the Second World War. The material had never been used for furniture before. However, Wegner was delighted with the look of the paper cord, which does not stretch and offers optimum durability, and the same applies to subsequent generations. The CH25 Lounge Chair has enjoyed great popularity ever since and has been in continuous production since 1950 - a testament to Wegner's visionary approach to design. It takes an experienced craftsman 10 hours and around 400 meters of paper cord to weave a seat and backrest by hand, using a specific weaving-like technique that is visible on both sides of the backrest. The impressive result of this demanding process is an extraordinary chair that fascinates from all angles.
