Product description
Ceiling lamp L40 Gerrit Rietveld L40 pendant lamp designed by Rietveld in 1922. The L40 lamp was part of the design made for the consulting room of doctor Arie Marinus Hartog in Maarssen. The design was simple and innovative, using the most modern technology of tube lighting at the time. Square wooden ceiling plate, glass tube-clad wiring, tube lights encased in wooden blocks. Original design: Gerrit Rietveld for Dr. Hartog. ca. 1922. Also known as the three tube lamp or L40. The lamp consists of: A black lacquered wooden ceiling plate, 6 glass tubes containing power cable, 6 black lacquered cubical fittings, 3 perpendicular, tubular lamps (+ 2 pieces spare tube lamps) The total length ca. 15o cm Dimension ceiling plate ca. 40 x 40 cm. Tip; Mounting / changing the tube lamps is easier with the use of a little bit of acid-free Vaseline. Always make sure that the lamp is off! ! I have owned the lamp since 1995, 1st owner. Bought at de Sprong bv in Utrecht. The lamp has been actively used in 2 (moving) homes, after moving I have not hung it up anymore because of lack of electrical connection point in the ceiling. I have dismantled the lamp and given the fragility well packaged. With a possible purchase I advise to pick it up.
