Product description
A sculptural armchair with a pure, rational form.
An authentic manifesto for the objective approach of
Neo-Plasticism, which was initiated by the Dutch De Stijl movement in 1917.
A poetry that was also promoted by Piet Mondrian, whose aim was to search for the essential nature of things, the harmonious equivalence of colors and the exclusive use of the right angle.
Rietveld worked on the first prototypes in 1918, expressing the philosophy of the organization of space through the monochromaticity of the elements. He subsequently used chromatic differentiation to separate the structural elements from their functions and ended up combining the black structure with colored support elements. This also resulted in the work changing its name from Slat Chair to Red and Blue.
