Product description
Pair of “Rialto” chairs designed by Finnish architect and designer Carl Gustaf Hiort af Ornäs in 1957. Original models produced by his own furniture company, Puunveisto Oy. First edition in teak with spring cushions. Rare on the market. Carl Gustaf Hiort af Ornäs has had a discreet career in the world of design. Today, his work is recognized worldwide. This armchair blends several arts and crafts: wood and leather. The result is fabulous. It is both minimalist and sophisticated. It was designed and exhibited for the 11th Milan Triennale in 1957. The teak structure with its curved legs is made from a single piece of wood, while the cabinetmaker's assembly of the straight-tailed armrests is perfect. The refined look is achieved by sheathing the armrests in black leather and weaving the backrest in the same material. The armchair, a functional object, becomes a luxurious decorative object. The seats and backrests are also covered in a new ecru bouclette fabric. Very good condition.
patina on the black leather handles on the armrests. New beige bouclette fabric.
