Armchair model 42 designed by Alvar Aalto in 1932 for the Paimio sanatorium in Finland, hence also known as small Paimio. This armchair is an Artek edition from the early 1980 (buying invoice available from a Brussels-based specialist in Scandinavian vintage furniture). Cantilevered wooden structure in varnished birch, white lacquered one piece plywood seat and backrest. Very good overall state, a few light marks on the white plywood that shows a very nice patina. This armchair is also perfectly balanced, which is not always the case with this model.
