Product description
This 18th-century piece of furniture, made of fir with a central divider, is typical of the closets known as "du Ried" (the region around Sélestat in the Bas-Rhin) and Colmar (Haut-Rhin). Modest families had single-door wardrobes, while wealthier families had 2-door wardrobes. The joinery features multi-level Louis XIV panels and moldings. The sides are cut with filleted flutes. Fluting is also visible on the façade. The cornice is flat but large and well-molded. The cabinet is assembled by wedges at the top and bottom, which made it easy to transport. The fittings, typical of Alsace, are hand-forged "pigtail". H 175 cm x W 150 cm x D 60 cm
