Hollywood Collection - Design by William Brand "After sunrise over the vast continent of Africa, an intense play of light and shadow emerges." While traveling through Africa, William was struck by the slenderness and sheer beauty of the branches and trees scattered throughout the land. Back in Europe, driven by his fascination, William sketched lighting objects that captured the character and emotion of the vegetation in this arid environment. Soon he moved from the drawing board to the workshop, where he spent hours shaping metal and creating prototypes. A lighting sculpture was born, which we all now know by the name HOLLYWOOD. Comment by William Brand on his work: "After returning from a family trip to Namibia, I felt the urge to translate the strong impressions of this trip into a lighting sculpture. Around the same time, we were asked to light the annual Academy Awards in Los Angeles.
