Product description
This is an original design object by Ettore Sottsass. A hand-turned red clay bowl made by the renowned Bitossi family from Montelupo, Italy. The handmade centerpiece is finished in a two-tone matte white and beautiful deep indigo blue glaze and is signed on the bottom with 'E. Sottsass Bitossi Montelupo'.
A beautiful item. In pristine condition without damage or stains.
Dimensions: Diameter 29.5cm x Height 22cm
Ettore Sottsass (1917-2007) opened his first design studio in 1947 after studying to become an architect. In the years that followed, Sottsass was a progressive designer. In 1981, Sottsass founded an anti-design group called Memphis. They resist the strict, functional rules of modernism by combining geometric shapes with bright colors and different patterns.
The Bitossi family has been documented as early as 1536 in the Montelupo Fiorentino region of Tuscany. Their association with Ettore Sottsass began in 1955 and continues to this day.
Beautiful design object, but unfortunately it no longer fits the current interior.
