Product description
Exceptionally original lithograph, in the highly personal, somewhat alienating style of Bernhard Jäger. Numbered in pencil by the artist (48/60), dated (1975) and signed. Dimensions: 59 x 42.5 cm. In perfect condition, never been framed.
Bernhard Jäger studied biology before devoting himself to art. He began teaching art at the Werkkunstschule in Offenbach am Main. He then founded a printing workshop and in 1961 founded the publishing house "Gulliver-Presse," which specialized in bibliophile editions. From 1966 he worked more intensively on his own art production. At its center is the human being and his physical and psychological condition. From 1984 to 2000 he directed the teaching at the Frankfurt Städel evening school. There he also created large oil and acrylic paintings.
In 1998 he was awarded a prize by the Heitland Foundation, and his illustrated books were awarded the "Most Beautiful Book of the Year" prize several times by the "Buchkunst" Foundation.
