Product description
'Anémones Rouges-et-Bleu' an unmissable lithograph by Bernard Cathelin with his own distinctive style. The framed lithograph on made paper measures 91 x 3 x 53 cm. The image measures 74 x 36 cm. The lithograph is hand-signed and numbered (CXXXII / CLXXXV - 132 / 185).
Bernard Cathelin (1919-2004) was born in Paris. A student at the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, Cathelin studied under artists such as Henri Matisse and Maurice Brianchon. He was a member of the School of Paris, which included Picasso, Chagall, Matisse, Dufy and many others, including Maurice Brianchon, Cathelin's teacher at the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs.
Although his distinctive style set him apart from his colleagues; Cathelin's work was painterly in an era when art was increasingly going by process. Cathelin primarily used brushes and palette knives with oil paint on canvas and applied rich colors and textures to poetic subjects in honor of his homeland and travels. Although he was best known for his paintings, Cathelin was also a skilled lithographer who worked with Marc Chagall and Pablo Picasso at the Mourlot print shop in Paris.
When shipped, the lithograph will be carefully packaged and shipped by PostNL.
