The Beni Ouarain tribe is made up of several different Berber tribes, some of whom still raise sheep in the Atlas mountains. The sheep produce exceptional, high-quality wool, and it is from this wool in natural colors such as white, ivory and ecru that the famous Beni Ouarain rugs are woven. The boldness and creativity of the women of the Berber tribes in the Atlas allow them to create freely from their own experience, combining shapes and colors to perfection, using only vegetable dyes.
