Product description
Beint Mankes (1918-1990) was the son of the famous artist Jan Mankes.
Beint Mankes goes to the Academy of Visual Arts in Rotterdam and then to the art academy in The Hague. He first lives and works in Rotterdam, later in Laren in North Holland, and initially earns his living as an advertising artist and designer. Because the blood is thicker than water, at a certain point he devotes himself entirely to art and paints, watercolors and draws (pastels) still lifes, landscapes, city and forest views and portraits. He also teaches at the Gooise Academy for Visual Arts and is a member of the Gooise Painters Association, as stated in Pieter Scheen's artists' encyclopedia, in which he is referred to as a 'famous painter'.
Work, among others, in Centraal Museum Utrecht and in the collection of the Municipality of Laren.
