Product description
This table lamp model WG 24, designed by Wilhelm Wagenfeld in 1924, is often called the Bauhaus lamp. Wagenfeld was 24 years old when he was admitted as an apprentice to the Bauhaus workshop in Weimar. Here he designed the first model of this lamp as a solution to a commission from László Moholy-Nagy. As Wagenfeld said years later, the Bauhaus designs were intended as industrial products and indeed resembled them.
Even today, the Wagenfeld table lamp WG 24 is still manufactured on this basis by Tecnolumen, according to the original specifications for dimensions and materials. All lamps are numbered consecutively under the base and feature logos.
Indeed, a huge number of counterfeits of these lamps exist - in addition to more recent productions and replicas. As shown in the photos, this is an original Tecnolumen WG 24 lamp with an early original serial number 2270.
The lamp consists of a glass plate and glass tube of clear glass, nickel-plated metal parts, opal glass screen.
The lamp has been completely rewired.
Probable production date late 1970s, early 1980s.
The metal holder for the glass plate has a crack, but this is not visible and does not disturb the sturdiness of the lamp.
