Auguste Mambour (Liège, May 13, 1896 - Liège, October 30, 1968) was a Belgian painter.
Mambour took classes at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Liège along with Adrien de Witte and Evariste Carpentier.
He married Joséphine Renard on July 5, 1917 and had X children with her. Claude (1924), Christiane (1928)
In 1923 he joined the Arts Circle of Liege and won the second prize in the prestigious Prix de Rome. With this money, he undertook a trip to Congo where he stayed from April to November.
Between 1926 and 1929 he immersed himself in surrealism, but the public did not like it. From 1929, he worked for the PR department of FN Herstal. In 1931, he was then able to work as a teacher at the Academy of Liege.
Viewing is of course possible. We also have our own in-house frame shop, which is celebrating its 85th anniversary year. The condition of the work concerns only the artwork, not the frame. We also make use of restorers from the branch organization: 'Restauratoren Nederland'. If you would like to make use of them, please let us know.
