In Greek mythology, Atlas is best known as the Titan who, according to legend, had to carry the vault of heaven on his shoulders/hands.
My modern version.
Great wood grains, beautiful patina.
I made this sculpture in 2003.
Natural wax (= waxed - 5 layers).
Modern design, fits in any interior.
I made 3 works of 'Atlas', this is the remaining one.
Few or no wood sculptures work with hardwood, too hard, too difficult.
The yellow strip (right) is a bit of sapwood. Do you ever come across while chiseling...
