Product description
Unique armchair by Ate van Apeldoorn This is a schittenrende armchair manufactured with the utmost care for quality. The armchair is in very good condition. Design: Ate van Apeldoorn Model: 'Stokkenstoel' Original frames Brand present (brand mark) Houtwerk Hattem Sizes: W 80 x D 75 x H 82 cm seat height 34cm Frame: Pine with ash frame Matt finished at manufacture Marked with brand mark Made with attention to detail and very tightly finished. This frame is the variant with the wider armrests/legs. There is also a variant with a narrower frame. You can tell by the number of tooth joints in the wood. Leather: This is what makes the armchair truly unique! thick full grain leather - croupon - vegetable tanned 100% natural fat - sun dyed The saddle leather is of a nice thick quality, at least 4mm. It is full-grain leather from croupons and therefore not neck leather. Croupons, leather from the back of the cow, is firmer and more durable than leather from the neck. Neck leather stretches more and is not suitable for this furniture. The seat would get out of shape too quickly and collapse. In consultation with Houtwerk Hattem and the leather worker, a small adjustment was also made to the seat to make it a little firmer and more durable. The hides have been selected by hand. Hardly any to no irregularities, damages/old scars or difference in thicknesses. The hides are naturally tanned and therefore not chrome-tanned. The (light) natural leather is then greased by hand. A two-week process. 100% natural grease was used. This grease nourishes the leather particularly well and protects it from drying out or tearing. Thus, no ordinary leather grease, vegetable grease or grease with solvents was used. During the two weeks of greasing, the leather was colored in sunlight. The leather was not treated with any pigment or dye. In fact, the natural leather is pale pink in color immediately after tanning that discolors under the influence of light. After the leather is colored and greased, it is more resistant to stains and discoloration. The leather can be cleaned with a dry or slightly damp cloth. The coloring of the leather will continue slowly during use and in time the leather will take on an increasingly deep cognac color.
