Product description
Calx01 is an abstract limestone wall object with both fluid and solid qualities. Shiny and flowing like water, while rock hard and porous like stone. The object is designed by Aad Bos and crafted by Martijn Heinsius from Studio Heinsius, based in Klaukkala, Finland. Martijn has mastered the ancient process of Tadelakt application for over 20 years. The object aims to capture and preserve the essence of the craft of Tadelakt, an ancient lime-based plaster indigenous to the Marrakech region of Morocco. Tadelakt (pronounced tad-eh-lact) means ‘rub in’ or ‘massage’. The plaster is traditionally applied using a stone to massage the surface whereby creating a smooth finish reminiscent of natural stone. Materials: Tadelakt (Calciumcarbonaat, CaCO3) on plywood backing. Finish: beeswax and Carnauba wax Dimensions: 27 x 30 x 7 cm approx.
