The C683 is a sofa with understated simplicity in short a timeless classic and still available new. The Artifort C 683 was designed in 1968 by Indonesian-Dutch designer Kho Liang Ie. Model C 684 also comes from the same designer. Difference between the C 683 and the C 684 is in the cushion. In fact, the casing (or the part on which the cushion lies) is identical for the Artifort C 683 and the C 684. The cushion consists of a seat and back part that run into each other. The C 684 has several buttons, the C 683 has horizontal lines. These are in fact 4 separately stitched "channels", each with its own cold foam and cotton padding.
The Artifort C683 sofa is extremely suitable as a comfortable relax sofa because of its sloping corner. A timeless look is created by the horizontal strips in the back and seat cushion.
This beautiful vintage Artifort C 683 3-seater sofa, designed in 1968 by Kho Liang Ie has completely new cold foam seat and back padding and is upholstered in a beautiful white/soft gray wool Plough fabric! The body is pressed beech wood with a foam layer and both the seat section as well as the front and back are fully upholstered in the same fabric. This Artifort C 683 sofa has a white metal base.
About the designer
Kho Liang Ie completed his education at the Rietveld Academy to become an interior architect and designer. In 1958, he became a consultant and designer for Artifort. Kho Liang Ie introduced high-profile designs with Artifort and together they made Artifort break through internationally as a design brand. Through Kho Liang le, Artifort attracted various designers such as Pierre Paulin and Geoffrey D. Harcourt RDI, designers who are still world-famous today. As an interior designer, Kho Liang le made a name for himself with his design for Schiphol Airport in the 1960s. His work exudes purity, warmth and freedom. The design of the Artifort C 684/3 sofa is sober but refined and timeless and fits into any interior.
