Vintage Sideboard. A beautiful sideboard from the 1940s by designer Jules Leleu, made with veneer in a beautiful block motif. This sideboard consists of five doors with shelves behind them and behind the middle door six drawers covered with red velvet. The legs have a brass sabot. A beautiful enrichment to your vintage interior. The sideboard has age-related damages which are clearly pictured.
Leleu became famous in the 1920s for his elegant furniture, luxurious fabrics and innovative wallpapers. He also designed interiors for prestigious clients such as actress Micheline Presle, King Leopold III of Belgium and French President Vincent Auriol.
In the 1940s, Leleu expanded his business to include mass-produced furniture. He also helped rebuild many homes and public buildings destroyed during World War II.
During his career, Jules Leleu received many honors, including the Légion d'honneur and the gold medal at the 1937 Paris World's Fair. His company remained active after his death and was run by his sons until its closure in 1973. Today, Leleu's creations are highly sought-after collectibles around the world."
