Product description
The armchair designed by Józef Chierowski is the most famous and recognizable piece of Polish design of the 60s. It was created in 1962 in the Lower Silesian Furniture Factories in Świebodzice and has made a world-wide career. It is a very simple piece of furniture. Definitely modern. That’s how he was perceived over 60 years ago. His style was definitely different from other massive armchairs from the early 1960s. The chair has undergone a thorough renovation. The wooden frame has been splitted into the first parts in order to eliminate the gaps created at the joints due to the passage of time and to eliminate mobility due to the crumbling of glue. The next step was to clean the old layers of paint and varnish. The frame was glued together again and painted with teak satin paint at the end. The seat was also dismantled from old layers of material, foam and belts. The reinforcement could be built from scratch using medium-hard foam, straps and insects. At the very end, the seat was covered with hydrophobic fabric.
