The Arco Slim Table is a design by Bertjan Pot. For the company's 100th anniversary, Arco asked 12 designers to create something that would usher the company into the next century. Bertjan wanted to design something that hadn't been done before, something impossible. But that wasn't an easy task. He noticed that much of the wooden furniture in Arco's collection is backed with metal. Metal forms the base, which is then "covered" with wood. This gave him the idea to create the Slim Table, which is also constructed according to this principle. A table with a top that is so slim and rests on legs only 2.8 centimeters wide. It seems to be on the verge of collapse - and thus impossible - but stands proudly upright thanks to its construction of metal. The minimalist and elegant Slim is executed in black oak veneer and finished with a matte project lacquer. This varnish has a dense structure, making the table very well protected against stains.
