Sideboard was bought by my grandparents when they got married in 1929, probably in Amsterdam where they went to live. Sideboard is typical 1930s with veneer, oak and coromandel accents. By the way, the pictures do not do justice to this furniture but it is not easy to just move it around with proper lighting etc. The raised back edge is darker in color probably because it was not used. On either side behind are pieces of wood cut off so that the sideboard has only a horizontal top, maybe because this was more convenient to place things on? I can't ask more unfortunately.
On either side of where the back edge is placed something is missing but what exactly I don't know. Also on the bottom left and front a piece of veneer is missing. The top has some signs of use, especially discoloration. The drawer on the right has a bluish bottom (ink?). The lock on the right drawer is missing, both keys are present. The back edge has to be held in place by 'plugs' that are no longer there, but with a few custom made sticks it stays in place.
