Architect and designer Arne Jacobsen was a pillar of mid-century modern design with his focus on the simplicity of form and innovative function of a piece of furniture. One of his most famous creations, the 1951 Ant chair, was inspired by a plywood chair by Charles Eames. Working with Fritz Hansen, he further reduced Eames' original design to a single, stackable piece of molded wood on tubular legs.
