Product description
For those who really want something special on the wall at home: This large and eccentric work of art by the Amstelveen artist Anne Leegstra is an absolute eye-catcher! It is made from a mixed technique with (oil and acrylic) paint and mortar in which natural stones are attached. In a figurative and surrealistic style, it depicts 'woman' as a prehistoric man or 'mother earth'. A powerful statement full of symbolism! Year: 1994 Dimensions canvas (h x w): 130 x 100 cm (incl. baking frame: 135 x 105 cm) The painting is applied to canvas/cloth and the stones are firmly attached. The canvas with frame is in a beautiful matching black/gold-coloured wooden floating frame with minor signs of age The work is in (very) good condition. Due to the size, fragility and weight (!) the work must be picked up by the buyer or a courier. Anne Leegstra is a self-taught artist who has been able to turn his passion into his profession. He mainly makes imaginative and abstract paintings. Together with his wife - also an artist - they run the 'Het Oude Dorp' gallery in Amstelveen, where both of their works are permanently on display and for sale. Leegstra has been involved in art events in Amstelveen and surroundings for many years. under the heading 'Atelierroute' and 'Amstellandkunst' (www.amstellandkunst.nl) Works by Anne Leegstra have been exhibited in: - Kunstencentrum Ateliers 2005 (Amstelveen) - Gallery De Tuinkamer (Hoofddorp) - Gallery (Oosthuizen) - The New Gallery (Amsterdam) - Galerie Sous-Terre - Ikebana (Heemstede) Anne Leegstra about his work: "Painting in abstract expression is fighting, with colors, shapes and composition, but above all creating your own style. Decadent dip your brush in beautiful cobalt blue, palette knife in cadmium red, background with naples yellow and sand, and draw with the brush, to an interplay of color and form, or a pleasant composition. Anne Leegstra was born in Leeuwarden in 1943. At the age of 17 he came into contact with painting. It is a passion in his life that will never let go of him. Leegstra works from his feeling. From an apparent natural talent to create, to communicate, through his paintings. It can be seen in all his work. Combining colors with shapes, that is where his greatest strength lies. He is a perfectionist like no other. Each work is thoroughly prepared, the backgrounds studied again and the desired form is often first put on paper in a study. He often finds inspiration in the images of Auguste Rodin, or in Tolkien's "Lord of the Rings". Sometimes he sees a theater or dance performance that appeals to him and that is the reason for a series of works. And then, when all that preparation is over, the creation of a new work begins. Playing with shapes and colors, Leegstra suddenly turns his vision into reality in a work of art. One thing is certain, it is always fun for the viewer.
