He was a qualified engineer and wanted to make it as a photographer in the bustling city, home of the avant-garde. The November 1934 issue of Art et M_decine , a magazine of modern photography, stated that there was no better aesthetic master than water for working muscle and sculpting flesh. The cult of the body was everywhere. VU magazine provided the propaganda for this way of life and often called on Andr Steiner to illustrate sports and dance and reveal their vital energy. The body, the nude, was Andr_ Steiner's great passion, and not only in photography. In the early 1950s, Steiner outlined his conception of the nude and the model.
