Product description
Italian dry bar or cocktail cabinet by Aldo Tura.
Along with artists like Piero Fornasetti and Carlo Bugatti, Aldo Tura definitely belonged to the mavericks of Italian design. Whereas the former chose abundant figurative decoractions as his hallmark, Bugatti and Tura focussed on applying a specific material. Tura founded his workshop in Milan in 1939 and the company has been in operation ever since. Though over the years Tura realized pieces in a number of different styles, they are all hand made, executed to very high standard and covered with one specific material: goat skin parchment.
This rare dry bar, which doubles as an end table, was executed circa 1970. The rich brown vellum - which shows similarities to burl wood as well - and the octagonal mirror glass table top clearly reflect the high style of that era. However, this exquisite piece of furniture would still easily fit into any contemporary luxurious interior. Materials: wood, lacquered parchment and metal.
Dimensions: height 19.6 in. (50 cm), width 21.7 in. (55 cm), depth 21.7 in. (55 cm).
Offered without the glasses and carafe.
Very good, some small scratches and little dents to the surface (see last two pictures). Wheel under the drawer has been replaced.
