Bol (1898-1994), director of the Dordrechts Museum in particular, played a role. He was born between 1659 and 1664 as the second son of Cornelis Coorte and Petronella van Goch, probably in the magistrate's house on the Markt in IJzendijke, where his parents lived. His father was clerk of IJzendijke. In 1675, after the death of his father, his mother moved with her sons to the Gortstraat in Middelburg.[2][3][4] At an early age Adriaen went to Amsterdam, where around 1680 he worked with Melchior d'Hondecoeter, whose themes (birds and other animals) also influenced him.[5] From 1683-1707 he was active as a painter and probably worked in Middelburg, where he mainly made small still lifes.
